Temperature Test

The dropping point or the temperature test of lubricating oils are done in order to obtain the indication of the heat resistance of the product and is the temperature at which it passes from a one state to another state under specific test conditions. It is dependent on the type of thickener used and the cohesiveness of the oil. This test indicates the temperature limit at which oil retains its structure. This, in combination with other tests determines the suitability of oils for specific applications and plays a major role in quality control.
